THE TAO OF CATMAN

Sometimes it's good to just play...and sometimes not!

CATMAN'S BIRTHDAY PARTY

We held a little celebration of Catman's birthday today in the park. All his friends were there and even the cops had a good time. Food was carefully and lovingly prepared by Mrs. Nekojin, and entertainment was provided by Kitty Lee and Kool Kat Jazz. I think Catman is a bit sweet on her, and she even sung his favorite song.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CATMAN

Today, May 26th marks Catman's first birthday. It's hard to believe it's only been a year, but time flies when you are having fun, and we have a lot of fun drawing him and his friends. He started on as just a doodle, a little graffiti, a few pencil lines a year ago by Aoi, then evolved a litter more to some squiggles, then to a funny looking little guy with a strange looking hat. After a few appearances, we decided that the hat probably wasn't aerodynamic so we trimmed him down a bit into the handsome superhero we all know and love. We thank you for following his misadventures and those of his friends, like the Nekojins, and hope you will continue to enjoy the adventures of Catman.

The first catman sketch ever.

A few lines and squiggles and we had a pretty goofy looking little guy who...

became this little guy - the first to appear in Catman Comix.
Later we changed his look a little, made him more aerodynamic...

and sometime more serious...the Catman we all know and love!
Keep up the good work Catman and Happy Birthday!

WHERE'S MY CARTOONIST?

Sometimes our characters take on a life of their own.

THE NEWEST CATKID

THE NEWEST CATKID - by Panda. One of the things that binds Aoi Tokugawa and I so closely is that we not only enjoy what each other does, but we participate ~ share. For example, we both have a great deal of fun doing Catman Comix and the Nekojins and Catkids. Typically, Aoi does the drawings and provides the storyline, and I tidy things up, add conversation bubbles, and otherwise computerize things for the net. Recently, Aoi suggested that I try my hand at cartooning, since I have many ideas for cartoons and because I seem to carry a bunch of Catkids around in my head day and night. Well...I've been working at it and almost have Catman and Super Sumie down; although, Sumie comes out a bit too fat, so I'm still working on that. But I have been drawing Catkids a lot and I think I finally have it down. Aside from Annabelle Nekojin, this is my first Catkid.

CARTOONS IN NATURE #1

CARTOONS IN NATURE #1 ~ The Oregon Junko (photo 1) and the Oregon Junkie Photo #2). The Oregon Junkie is a pesky little bird that loves to sit in the branches of trees and sing loudly very early in the morning until it is fed copious amounts of tuna. This particular species is found only in Sacramento and Tajimi, Japan...and they refuse to migrate preferring to stay home and sleep because "migrationz iz too much work!"
